Renowned cartoonist and creator of the beloved comic strip Dilbert, Scott Adams, recently shared a personal and poignant update about his health.

During a May 19 episode of his YouTube show, Real Coffee With Scott Adams, he opened up about his fight with an advanced form of prostate cancer, a diagnosis he shares with former President Joe Biden. Adams revealed, “I also have prostate cancer that has spread to my bones.”

At 67, Adams suspects he’s had the condition longer than Biden, expressing a grim outlook with his life expectancy at “maybe this summer.” The disease’s toll is severe. “The disease is already intolerable, I can tell you that,” Adams confided, illustrating a daily struggle devoid of good days.

These challenges are compounded by constant pain, which has led him to stop filming his evening series, Man Cave. He candidly shared, “I’m always in pain,” and has been reliant on a walker for mobility for months.

Despite the shock of his diagnosis, Adams has come to terms with his situation. He reflects on life’s inevitability, acknowledging the bittersweet reality of having time to “put your affairs together.” “Everybody has to die as far as I know,” he remarked, noting the opportunity to make preparations as a small comfort.

Adams further discussed the profound pain of his illness yet saw a silver lining in knowing ahead of time. This awareness allows him to spend his remaining time wisely, “while your brain is still working to wrap things up.”

Scott Adams’ courageous openness about his battle serves as a reminder of the fragility of health and the strength needed to face life’s hardest challenges.
